I LOVE being on summer vacation!!!! No question about it. This summer has been SUPER busy, but SO good at the same time! Here are some quick updates from this summer:
1 - I got a new job! I was not looking for one at all, I love working at my school, but this opportunity came to me and it feels so right. Actually, I was offered another great job too, but it would have taken me out of the classroom, and I'm just not ready to give up teaching a new crop of kiddos each school year. The crazy thing is that both of these jobs came to me, and not the other way around. Heavenly Father seems to do that to me, brings these opportunities to me, and then I get to put forth the work to make it happen. I'm grateful for that and I really believe that if we're trying to do what He wants us to do, He brings these wonderful blessings to us and places them at our feet. So now, I'll be working at Glendale Middle School in Salt Lake City. :)
2 - Lesley got married! Finally; it's about time. Her and Chris have only been dating since our senior year of high school, that's all. ;) It was awesome. I got to be a bridesmaid for her, and we had a blast! The hoopla all started Friday night with the rehearsal dinner and continued with wedding schtuff all night and all day Saturday, and now they're married!!! So happy for them, when I get pics back, I'll post them so you can see. :)
3 - Lake Powell for the first time! So in Utah, the "thing" to do each summer is to go to Lake Powell. Well, I've lived in the UT for 4 years and had never been. One night, some girlfriends and I were having a get-together before one of us left for an internship in NY and we decided to find some boys with boats for us to go to Powell. During this discussion, our Bishop's wife Linda said, "Your Bishop has a boat." And it was done. They have a houseboat, along with a speedboat. I had a lot of firsts, here are some of them:
~~First time on a houseboat~~I am just now, after being home for a few days, not feeling myself sway back and forth like I'm on a boat.
~~First time wakeboarding~~I got up on the first try!! I don't really have any pictures of that to prove it, but I do have a few witnesses. :) I tried it a few times, but could never really figure out what to do once I got up on the board. Oh well, there will always be another opportunity, I'm sure.
~~First time surfing~~I also got up on the first try! It was SO fun, and a bit more relaxing than wakeboarding. To surf behind the boat, you pull yourself up - like wakeboarding - but your feet aren't strapped in and then you just surf back and forth on the wake. I have proof of this one, a video, to be exact. Lake Powell was heaven on earth, it's a magical, magical place. I think I found myself many new hobbies, one of which is boating. I loved it! Can't wait to go again. :)
Summer is my favorite. Although I've been definitely keeping myself busy this summer among the trips, jobs, and my class I'm taking, it's been a blast! Filled with friends, family, and most importantly: FUN!!!!
